    The empty playbook

    The coaches association hands you four blank field templates and a bare image to paste into a document with your logo. Coaches bind the printouts into set-play booklets and fill them the only way there is: by hand, one circles-and-arrows sheet at a time.

    The redraw

    A team carries at least three corner routines, and every tweak means another redraw. Move the flicker, change a runner, and the sheet from last week is fiction. Out comes another blank template, and you draw the whole thing again.

    Game night

    Corners only work when every runner knows the job, which is why coaches number their plays. But the numbers live on a hand-drawn sheet on one clipboard, and the runner who joined Tuesday has never seen Corner 3.

The corner sheet was never the problem. Redrawing it was.

Draw each corner once on a real pitch: the D, the 23-metre line, and the injection marks where they actually are. When the routine changes you move a marker instead of starting over. Print clean sheets for the clipboard, and your staff always sees the current version, never a stale photo.

    Corner 1, Corner 2, Corner 3: each variation is its own named play, the way runners actually remember them. Steps show the injection, the stop, and the strike in order.

  2. Roles, not guesswork

    Inserter, hitters, runners, backup, flyer, trails, post: label every player by the job, straight off the association corner sheets.

  3. Print. File. Reprint.

    A booklet of set plays without the binder. Print any sheet clean for the clipboard, and when a routine changes, print again instead of redrawing.

Questions coaches ask

Is the field hockey play designer free?
Seven days free, then Starter is $99 a year or $12 a month: the play creator, unlimited plays and playbooks, saving, printing and sharing. PRO is $149 a year or $29 a month and adds the practice planner, the drill bank and Sideline.
Is the pitch regulation size?
Yes. The outdoor pitch is the FIH 91.4m x 55m field with true shooting circles struck from the goalposts, 23-metre lines, penalty spots, injection marks, and the broken line. There is an indoor pitch too.
Can I diagram penalty corners?
Yes. Label your inserter, hitters, and runners, draw the injection and the shot, and use steps to hold each variation: Corner 1, Corner 2, Corner 3.
Can I draw practice drills?
Yes. Cones and a Coach marker are built in. Draw player movement and ball paths for any drill, save it, and reuse it session after session.
Do my players need accounts to see the plays?
No. Print the sheet, or save it as a PDF from the print window, and hand it out. Online sharing is for your staff, who sign in for read-only access.
